However, Stallman, who has never held a paying job as a programmer, feels the need to preach against paid software. There is no reason for these two types of software to be mutually exclusive. if the software developer takes ages to fix a bug that a end user IT dept can find and fix in a shorter time then that software is extremely simple and of no use. Proper software is planned and engineered so well that without engineering diagrams and the team who built it and are trained to maintain it is impossible to find a bug faster and resolve it properly.

most of people misunderstand these "open source" thing. even if you aren't a programmer, you can benefit from it, because everybody can modify the source code. bugs can be fixed more quickly, the new relases are more frequent, and etc. and if you have a problem, you don't have to rely on a company's tech support. anyone who knows the program's source can help you. whoah, maybe i become too RMS-ish :DD

As a computer programmer, I know first hand that you cannot trust a customer to fully operate a system on their own. If you do you are running down a path of negative experiences. One of the reasons why I'm unwilling to develop free software is I simply don't want to spend time dealing with corrupt programmers who either try changing its source code in a malicious way or steal it and use it for themselves. Stallman is remarkable in that he's almost never wrong. But he does tend to oversimplify issues and take unrealistic positions. For example, saying that "no one would be tempted to put malicious features in free software". There have been lots of cases of crackers secretly putting backdoors in free software. He also sidesteps the issue of the economic production of software too much. Capitalism subsidizes the majority of fine artists; why couldn't we do the same for software?

really cool...but it's still bulky. Art for the 21st century would require it to be a tad smaller so you could get detail. It's a great item for kids and I would love one for myself. But it's more of a toy...not something to be used by a real artist. It's a fun thing. A kid should have crayons, pencils along with the I/O brush and it would really expand their horizons.

My only problem with this is that since it's geared for kids, it would probably need to have one hell of a long warranty, because it looks rather delicate and even in the video you can see some of the children really mashing the fiber optic "bristles" onto the computer tablet. Unless this finds a way into mainstream modern art, I'm not sure how far a product like this would go as far as appealing to a mass market. I prefer my oils and gouache, thanks. ^-^

Those are called hills they are hardly mountains even by the most generous definition. And try to name a single significant lake in Australia? Not a pond or a temporary lake but a real lake. Also Australia is one of few places without a single fast flowing river in the whole country. Even the Murray-Darling river, the biggest river in the country, dries up in places.

I don't understand why people would flame this video. Without this creative commons licensing all the sites such as this one will find there content quickly dwindling, and many many people being prosecuted for "illegal" use of copyright material. Salve a tutti, sebbene credo che la crisi economica mondiale sia vicina, tentar non nuoce a cercare di cambiare le cose, consiglio a tutti oltre che informare più gente possibile di passare ad una linea un pò più.. per esempio delle belle bombolette spray e dei muri belli in vista, come qualche arcata di qualche galleria molto frequentata.naturalmente stò scherzando :).
