You are allowed to dismiss yourself if you're not being detained, but when you use that line like he did, you are opening yourself to the cop saying, you're being detained, because you seem suspicious. Lotus is not compulsory for meditation. You can sit in half-lotus, no lotus whatsover or even sit upright in a chair. Just make sure you have no pain in your back or legs. Also if you sit, use a thick high cushion to raise your knees off the ground and help you correct a sagging back. If your goal is to sit in Lotus, there are a few stretching exercises and some Yoga positions that can help.

Maybe this doesn't work for you, even though it may help for others. My interpretation is that the rules, breathing, etc are tools to focus on your inner (spiritual) development. But, without a mentor or teacher who can help you focus on what you cannot describe in words, or logic, you will most likely fail to evolve spiritually. It sounds like you have rejected your spiritual side. This is your choice to do so. However, remember that is your opinion and it doesn't apply to everyone.

Get over it, the players that have used the laws gave them the thumbs up, the fans that have seen them in practice think its a change for the better, the Super 14 was better for it and the Tri Nations is the best one for a long long time. Just accept it and be positive about the laws like the players will be when they have used them.
