But in a real world situation people rarely have the chance to put their "dukes" up like in boxing or Muay Thai. I have survived a real world confrontation with a swift kick to the head. One thing I learned in MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts Program) is that if you have to grapple/spar, you're doing something wrong. God bless.

There are several ways and grips to set up the Peruvian Necktie. This is how we do it in the 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu system. You can't have your hands too tight or they will pop off when you sit back and throw the leg over. This is a very tight choke which comes on in less than 3 seconds.

This is what I would call an Outside Peruvian Necktie... The difference is... A(n inside) Peruvian Necktie You run your hand from the armpit to the neck. and then pull up and sit down(which should cause them to rotate over. From the outside you have to stand up and step over before you sit. Still just as effective of a chose, but usable for a different situation in my opinion. So... There are variations of the PNT and this is what we call it in the 10th Planet system. The hand grip is just a variation and it isn't close to an anaconda. Tony De S has a different set up, CB Dolloway does it this way, Brandon Quick has a slight variation. If something is done a bit different than what you know doesn't mean that it isn't the said technique. All teachers have different set ups and if you were to grab the arm different for an arm bar set up, it still would be an arm bar.

when you jump onto/towards them, be try to fall more on your shoulderblades than your head or neck. the defender in the video has a better base stance, allowing him to hold his opponent up during the fall after executing the armbar. normal fights, you should try to obtain a circular momentum to help protect yourself from headplanting into the ground/mat rather than relying on the defender to save you.

This is a great submission & a TOTALLY AWESOME back up for a failed arm bar. First time I did this was by accident, I hadn't even learned it yet but it worked great when I tried to do an arm bar but the guy squirmed. I wasn't even thinking 'choke with shin', I was thinking 'grab foot, pull out to save the arm bar'. It's pretty hard to intentionally pull off though. This is one of those moves that usually just happen spur of the moment.

Getting out requires you to use a half grapevine with probally your left leg into your opponents guard. From this position you can twist your hips and in turn spin the hold loose if you do it fast enough. If you move back as soon as you spin foward you should be able to catch your opponent in a front face lock and from there maybe even apply a guillotine choke.
